FAQs – Surfing & Staying at the Floating Surf Resort Banyak Islands, Sumatra

Why a Floating Surf Resort?

Imagine staying in a world surrounded by water, surfing world-class waves, and relaxing in a comfortable, air-conditioned room with everything you need for the surf trip of a lifetime—that’s why.

Our resort is located just offshore from Tuangku Island in the remote Banyak Islands, a place known for its raw beauty. The Bay of Plenty is where the Floating Surf Resort sits, positioned just far enough from the dense jungle.

If you’ve ever camped on the island, you’d know about the snakes and sand fleas—I did in 2011, and I only lasted two days. After speaking with sailors in the area, I realized that staying on the water eliminates these issues while providing extra comfort and safety.

How Stable is the Floating Surf Resort?

Our resort is moored in one of the calmest parts of the bay, ensuring a smooth and comfortable stay. Even during the largest swells, you’ll barely notice that we’re floating on water.

How Long Have You Been in business?

While our resort opened in 2024 in the Banyak Islands, we bring 20+ years of experience operating surf charters in the region. Our deep knowledge of the waves, tides, and local conditions ensures you get the best possible surf experience.

How Many People Can You Accommodate?

We accommodate up to six guests at a time to keep the vibe exclusive and uncrowded—because less surfers = more waves. If you're part of a larger group, we can accommodate up to eight guests upon request.

Looking for a Private Getaway?

You can rent out our entire resort exclusively for your friends and family. Whether you're planning a reunion, retreat, couple’s escape, or family vacation, our resort offers the ultimate private experience. Enjoy exclusive use of our comfortable amenities and personalized services, creating unforgettable moments in a one-of-a-kind floating paradise
